Lunaria, a beautiful local florist, had grown tulips for her shop. I immediately bought a bouquet, smitten with their blushing shade of red, and painterly petals. The north facing window provided the light I have come to rely on in my stillifes, a steady uplifting warm glow, even of a grey day. I spent hours creating what in the end didn’t seem to come together, before staring all over the again. Its a process, I reminded myself and got to work. There’s so much elegance in simplicity, and after removing every flower I starting over, I kept that sentiment close to my heart.
